What's New at Soul Forest

A Tour of the Wellness Spots at Soul Forest

Harini Shanker

Soul Forest is more than just a green space; it's a testament to resilience, growth, and renewal—not only for the land but for everyone who connects with it. I've watched it evolve from barren, dry ground to lush greenery, thanks to the rains. It's been an incredible journey, and I feel fortunate to have played a part in its transformation.

When working here, even on the hottest summer days, I find peace and purpose that I rarely experience in the city. There's something grounding about this place. No matter what's happening, it brings calm and clarity. Over time, I've found special spots that have become my personal retreats, places where I can reset, slow down, and find my centre. They remind me of what's at stake and how much we can contribute when we invest time and effort into nature's recovery.

Here are some of my favourite wellness spots across Soul Forest:

Rock Guild: Thriving Against All Odds

The Rock Guilds are a space that thrived even when the land around them was barren. Trees, rocks, and plants formed a resilient community, offering shelter and life in the harshest conditions. Today, it's where people gather, and plants continue to grow in the smallest cracks between stones. This space is a reminder that true resilience comes from diversity, as different forms of life work together to flourish, even in tough environments

Rock Ponds: Where Life Begins Anew

Scattered across the southern side of Soul Forest, the rock ponds are hidden gems I often return to. During the rains, these quiet oases come to life, attracting birds, insects, and other wildlife, anchoring biodiversity. They offer a serene and secluded spot for reflection, where time seems to slow down, and the calm of the water brings peace to everything.

The Meditation Tree: A Journey to the Self

This spot was a recent discovery for me. As summer gave way to the rains, this area transformed into a peaceful retreat perfect for meditation, reflection, and cultivating a sense of gratitude. It's become a sanctuary where I can pause, reconnect with myself, and find peace in the lap of nature.

The Lake: A Welcome Sight for the Weary Eyes

The lake adjacent to Soul Forest, a 370-acre water body, is a place I love to visit. It's more biodiverse than even Hussain Sagar, home to over 70 bird species, including seasonal visitors. Nature puts on an airshow every day, with egrets, ducks, and other birds gracing the skies. Whether walking along the lakeside or admiring it from a distance, the view of the lake against the mountains never fails to inspire me.

Our Office Cabin Terrace: A Vista of Progress

It may not seem like a natural retreat at first glance, but the view from the office cabin terrace is something I always appreciate. From here, I can see the fruit forest we've planted, a growing reminder of the work, care, and patience it takes to nurture an ecosystem. Watching the trees flourish from this vantage point offers a daily sense of fulfilment and progress.

Why These Spots Matter to Me

Each of these retreats at Soul Forest tells a story of resilience and growth, and that's what makes them special to me. They aren't just beautiful spots; they're living proof of nature's ability to thrive against the odds. Spending time in these spaces reinforces the deep connection between our well-being and the environment. Soul Forest is more than a stunning landscape; it's a place that gives back, even on the toughest days.
